Tri-Fold Retro Cowgirl Card

Postby GlitteryKatie on Thu Sep 10, 2009 1:47 pm

When I saw this card on SplitCoastStampers I was like "WHAT????!!" no way can I do that!" - then I saw the instructions and it is so SIMPLE!!!
Image

First of all you need a piece of cardstock 12" x 5.5"
Image

Next you need to score it at 2" 4" 8" and 10" from one edge:

So it will look like this:-

Now you need to cut the slit across the card:
Measure in 1.5" from the TOP of the card and then mark a line from the 2" to the 10" line -

you will cut along this line with a craft knife.
Flip the card around so the bottom of the card is at the top and again measure in 1.5" from the TOP of the card and then mark a line from the 2" to the 10" line and cut here too.

You will now have a slot like this:
Image
It is along the 2" to the 10" score lines and 1.5" in from the TOP edge and 1.5" in from the BOTTOM edge of the card.

OK so the last part of the card making is to fold along the score lines.
The Section of the card that's been cut folds the opposite direction to the folds in the main card.
Take a look at this photo taken from above- it's quite straight forward!

Looks great, Ms KT! Curious: how do these look when closed? (Or, I could go try one myself...lol)

I am new to Bombshells and this Forum. Just had to comment on what a fabulous card this one is. Spending lots of time reading all of the info, tricks and tutorials on how to play with my one and only Bombshell. I am not allowing myself to buy any more until I have used this one quite a bit (sounds rude!). It's just that I tend to be a hoarder and I don't want to be that way with my Retro Cowgirl. I want to try every technique I see here. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great Tutorial. These are one of my favorite cards to make and decorate. They always look soooo complicated and work intensive and they are just plain fun.

I love how you used the Retro Cowgirl. I never thought of paper piecing her, duh! I love the retro designs and vintage feel.
