Bombshells do Metal!!!!

Here's a little tutorial for using Bombshell's on craft foil sheets, cool as it's one of my FAVE techniques and it's March's challenge :D

I use Craft Foil sheets from Ten Second Studio - they do an awesome range of coloured foils, tools and have a wonderful book that teaches you ALL you need to know about working with foil!

What you need:
Craft Foil
Bombshell Stamp!
Staz-On Ink
An embossing tool
Piece of funky foam to work on
Paper Stump
Sanding block or fine sanding paper (emery cloth)
Optional extras:
Embossing wheels
Cup & ball tools

Here's how I started:

I stamped the Bombshell Pirate onto cream craft foil using Staz-On ink.
Note I have the foil on a piece of funky foam- this will allow you to emboss the image.

Now using an embossing tool (any round ended tool will do so long as it's not too sharp) I followed the lines of the stamped image.
Take your time and don't press TOO hard or you will poke through the foil!
I find this part quite relaxing!

Now when using coloured foil you can either have the stamped image depressed as with the Pirate girl here is the back of the cream foil:

OR you can stamp on the BACK of your coloured foil so that your outline will be raised as with the Panther:

You will get a different effect when you come to sanding off your image- it's fun to experiment!

So you've now embossed your Bombshell onto your foil!
You can of course leave it as it is and just sand over your image- it will look really cool attached to a card as it is, however I like to decorate a little more!

I used some Ten Second Studio molds but you can use for example Cuttlebug or Sizzix embossing folders to create patterns on your foil.
Place your foil over your textured surface and rub firmly with a paper stump:

You can turn your foil in different directions and add texture in different areas:

You can add textures and patterns to the foil using the embossing tool if you like- you don't have to have or use molds!
I have a few little wheels that I love to use to add texture and patterns:

panther4.jpg you can see I flipped the foil over and did some work on the back of the foil!

Once you are happy with your design then give the front a light sanding:

..this removes the colour from the foil and highlights the raised up portions of your design.
Remove as much or as little of the colour as you like- work steadily with your sanding block until you have the look you want. are done:

I hope you enjoyed this tut!

I always see craft foil at JoAnn, but never know what to do with it.

Excellent tutorial. Very inspiring.

Very cool. I love the textures you got with the Ten Seconds Studio Stuff and the sanding.

Thanks for another fantastic tutorial! You've inspired me to give this a go with the products that I have on hand.

That's weird- I used a very similar technique when I did my metal project for this month!!! :) Great minds and all that...

I did mine with Easy Emboss metal and a flame stamp. That's all I'll say until the hop!

Thats awesome! A great tutorial! I use metal tape to make my own tags, but this is way above and beyond that! Love it and can't wait to play!
